At 60th: Olori Jumai Oyelude Donates Orphanage, Renovates Hospital

The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, has flagged off the construction of the first standard orphanage home in Offa, Kwara State.

The orphanage project, initiated by the Olori Jumai Amoke Children and Mothers in Need Foundation, is designed to provide shelter, care, and support for vulnerable children, enabling them to achieve their full potential.

The flag-off and groundbreaking ceremony, held at the project site behind the Naval Base in Offa, attracted several dignitaries, including the Olowu of Owu-Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude, the Chairman of Offa Local Government, Hon. Suleiman Olatunji, as well as representatives of the Offa Descendants Union, among others.

In a separate remark, Oba Gbadamosi, represented by the Asalofa as well as the chairman of Offa local government, Hon Olatunji described the project as the first ever orphanage home in the community that will reposition the ancient city as a home of welfare and humanity.

Speaking at the event, Oba Oyelude, who donated N1 million to support the project, assured that the orphanage would be constructed to global standards and delivered on schedule.

In a related development, the foundation also completed the renovation of the maternity ward at the Offa General Hospital, which had been in a state of disrepair for several years.

The project included renovation of the ward as well as the donation of essential medical equipment was initiated following a visit by the founder, Olori Jumai Amoke-Makama, where she pledged to restore the facility.

According to the donor, the initiative was aimed at complementing government efforts in delivering quality healthcare through a modern, well-equipped facility.

The renovated maternity ward was commissioned by the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, who was represented by the Asalofa, High Chief Isiaka Adebayo alongside Olowu of Owu-Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude and the Afaaji of Faji, Oba Moshood Olawale, among other dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, Olofa commended Olori Jumai Amoke-Makama for what he described as a people-oriented intervention that would not only save lives but also enhance healthcare delivery in the community.

Oba Oyelude, in his address, noted that the intervention formed part of activities marking the forthcoming 60th birthday celebration of the Olori, while praying for her long life, greater accomplishments, and continued service to humanity.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Olabisi Abdulsalam, said the facility was in a needy condition before the intervention stressing that the hospital has since recorded improved efficiency in patient care following the renovation.

Dr. Abdulsalam appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture by investing in humanitarian causes, particularly in the healthcare sector.
