Osun APC Campaign Council Under Fire over Alleged Attack on Journalist

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has condemned the alleged attack on a journalist by the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, describing the opposition body as “a colossal embarrassment” to the people of the state.

In a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council criticized remarks allegedly made by Osun APC spokesperson, Remi Omowaiye, during a live television appearance.

According to the statement, Omowaiye’s reported comment to journalist Tope Ajijola “Did you go to school at all?” was described as crude, uncivilized, and a direct attack on decency, free speech, and public engagement.

Olajengbesi said the questions raised during the interview centered on governance, education, primary healthcare, and the responsibilities of local government chairmen, stressing that such issues should have been addressed with clarity rather than hostility.

The council argued that the spokesperson’s reaction reflected frustration and an inability to provide substantive responses, describing the incident as evidence of a campaign organization lacking discipline and coherence.

The statement also accused the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Wole Oke, of allegedly issuing reckless threats to residents of Osun State.

He claimed that such language was irresponsible, undemocratic, and unbefitting of individuals entrusted with presenting a political message to the public.

He alleged that nearly 20 days after its inauguration, the APC Campaign Council had failed to present a clear agenda, policy roadmap, or vision for Osun State.

According to the council, the opposition body has instead been preoccupied with insults, threats, and media controversies rather than meaningful policy discussions.

“In light of these repeated public outbursts and disturbing statements, there is every reason to question their level of mental and emotional discipline, composure, and readiness for the serious responsibilities of public leadership,” the statement read.

The Imole Campaign Council maintained that Osun people deserve leaders who are calm, focused, respectful, and solution-driven.
