Youth Group Accuses Adeleke of Blocking Police Officer’s Deployment to Osun

A youth advocacy group, OneForest Youth Initiative under the Centre for Democratic Accountability and Public Safety (CDAPS), has condemned the alleged stoppage of the deployment of a police investigator, CSP Moses Lohor, to Osun State, accusing the state government of shielding suspects linked to a murder case.

The group, through its Osun State Focal Person, Olaide Adejare, alleged that Governor Ademola Adeleke had shown hostility towards the police officer despite his record of professional achievements and contributions to combating crime.

Adejare said Lohor recently led the rescue operation that freed the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her two children from kidnappers in Oyo State.

He questioned the alleged resistance to Lohor’s redeployment to Osun, saying the development had raised concerns among residents who believed the officer’s return would strengthen the fight against insecurity in the state.

According to him, “While Nigerians are celebrating CSP Lohor’s exploits, the people of Osun State are left wondering why Governor Ademola Adeleke has consistently shown discomfort over the officer’s deployment and possible return to Osun State.”

He recalled that during Lohor’s previous assignment in Osun State as head of the former Inspector-General of Police Special Squad, he distinguished himself for fighting criminal elements which guarantee public safety.

He said “CSP Lohor’s team arrested an appointee of Governor Ademola Adeleke, one Olalekan Emir linked to murder and other crimes. Also, another appointee, Nurudeen Alowonle was apprehended for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

“Adeleke subsequently secured the release of the suspects and made them to invade justice by not standing trial in Court.”

”We call on Governor Adeleke to stop all actions capable of undermining public confidence in security agencies and to demonstrate unequivocal support for officers committed to combating crime in Osun State.”
