Bola Tinubu has been predicted to win the February 25 presidential election, 2023, in a fresh poll conducted by the Nigerian Human Rights Community (NHRC).
The NHRC disclosed this in its report of a survey released on Thursday, tipping that Mr Tinubu would win the presidential election landslide.
“Out of the 19365 respondents interviewed, 7940 (41%) are voting for the candidate of the APC while 5035 (26%), 4067 (21%), and 1743 (9%) are voting for the candidates of PDP, LP, and NNPP respectively,” the report read, adding that, “1162 (6%) of the respondents are rooting for the other candidates.”
It added that based on the poll, Mr Tinubu is the “most dominant and widely accepted candidate,” followed by Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and Peter Obi (Labour Party).
A former two-term governor of Lagos, Mr Tinubu, would be joining Messrs Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Obi of the Labour Party (LP), including Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) on the ballot next week weekend.
The NHRC, which comprises 134 civil liberty and community-based organisations, affirmed that the February poll would be a three-horse race involving Messrs Tinubu, Abubakar, and Obi.
“It is worthy of note, however, that the gray states (Rivers, Kebbi, Bauchi, Plateau, and Katsina) which house largely undecided voters and indifferent incumbent governors who are too close to call could sway the outcome in favor of the presidential candidate who is able to harness their voting strength,” the group explained.
According to the organisation, the poll was professional and objective in selecting respondents who were selected for each of the 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Other polls tipped Mr Obi as the presidential candidate to beat.
This week, Bloomberg declared the Labour Party flag bearer as the “top choice” to emerge as the nation’s president.
Findings from a recent poll conducted by Premise Data Corp for Bloomberg, said Mr Obi received the support of two-thirds of the 2,384 Nigerians polled between January 26 and February 4.
Sixty-six per cent of respondents declared their intentions to vote for Mr Obi. 18 per cent said they would vote Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 10 per cent declared support for Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The results of the poll were released penultimate Friday.
New Nextier, an Africa-focused consulting firm, also predicted Mr Obi has a strong chance of winning the election after he scored 37 per cent ahead of other candidates in a recently conducted voter survey.
