The Osogbo branch of the Modakeke Progressives Union (MPU) has congratulated the new Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Olu Toriola, on his recent installation as the traditional ruler of the town.
According to a press statement jointly signed by the Osogbo branch chairman of the MPU, Mr Yinka Odewale, and the Secretary, Pastor Oyenpemi Alawode, on behalf of the union in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, yesterday, the choice of Oba Toriola would add a meaningful value to the community.
Odewale stated that the development in the town called for joy as the new monarch would bring to bear his wealth of experience garnered over the years to transform the town.
The MPU chairman who lauded the obaship succession method of the community enjoined other communities within the state and beyond to learn a very good lesson from his people with reference to the rancour free method of the system.
He pledged the absolute loyalty and cooperation of his branch with the national body of the Union, and with the palace of the new Ogunsua.
Odewale also appealed to all other interest groups in the town to cooperate with the new Ogunsua in the interest of the continued development of the town.
He equally eulogised His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, for his prompt roles in the installation process. He praised the Oba for his peaceful disposition to Modakeke in particular, and to the development of Ife land in general.
He was full of praises for the National President of the Union, Rotarian Julius Odegbemi, for his pro-activeness, diligence, meticulousness, and a good dose of native intelligence.
The Osogbo MPU chairman prayed to God to continuously direct the footsteps of the new monarch in all his endeavours.
It would be recalled that the traditional installation of the oba was done with fanfare at the Market Square, opposite the palace in the ancient town last Saturday, 9th April 2022.
Many eminent sons and daughters of the town witnessed the traditional installation ceremony that was in segments.
The crescendo point of the ceremony was the arrival of a popular masquerade, Elebiti, to the venue. The masquerade, apart from performing its cultural and spiritual roles, added peps to the occasion.
