Olojo Festival: We’re Building Yoruba Museum Of Global Significance In Ile-Ife, Says Gov Oyetola

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Saturday disclosed that his administration was putting necessary mechanism in place to build Yoruba Museum of global standard in Ile-ife.

He explained that document of the land allocated for the proposed project has been handed over to the state government by the authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University.

Oyetola, made these known in Ile-Ife at the Grand-Finale of the celebration of the 2021 edition of Olojo Festival.

According to him, the project was to further accord Ile-Ife it’s righful status as the cradle of Yoruba race.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Benedict Alabi, stressed that the project, when completed would be a supporting tourism infrastructure for pilgrimage to the ancient city.

Speaking on the significance of Olojo Festival, particularly this year edition as it coincided with the 30th anniversary of the creation of the state, Governor Oyetola enjoined all to leverage on the new platform offered by the festival to build a stronger, safer, better and more prosperous Osun.

The Governor, then congratulated the people of Ile-Ife, Osun and the entire black race on the celebration, as he thanked the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, for his commitment and for interfacing with the ancestors to perform the necessary cleansing, productivity, security and other rites for the benefit of the black race in particular and mankind in general.

He reiterated his administration’s resolve to continually promoting cultural heritage across the state for economic prosperity, especially among the youths.

In his words, “Our administration strongly believes that State economy should be repositioned by giving a boost to cultural-tourism promotion with a view to driving meaningful youth employment, creating wealth and preserving our cultural heritage, among others. Necessary moral and financial support will be given to the promotion of endowed cultural heritage.

“Government will continue to do all within its power to protect the people, provide an enabling environment for a prosperous, secure and progressive Osun.

“As we celebrate this year’s edition of the festival, I enjoin all and sundry to intensify efforts to preserve our cultural heritage, entrench peaceful-co-existence, eschew political bitterness and always be our brothers’ keepers”.

He, however, seized the opportunity to remind the people of the state of the deadly Covid-19 Delta Variant currently ravaging the world, advising that people should continue to observe the protocols and get vaccinated to avoid being infected.
