OPU Lauds Ataoja’s Leadership On Osun-Osogbo Festival’s Global Recognition

As the 2024 edition of the annual Osun-Osogbo festival climaxes, the Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU) has congratulated the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Abidemi Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II and indigenes of the town on the celebration.

A statement by the OPU National, jointly signed by its President, Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe (Rtd), the National Secretary, Elder Kunle Fayoyiwa and the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Fatai Bolarinwa praised Oba Oyetunji’s efforts at branding the festival to global attention.

The OPU also saluted the monarch for his sterling leadership of Osogbo in the last 14 years, stressing that his developmental drive has resulted in the continued progress the city has witnessed over the last decade.

The OPU noted that the Osun-Osogbo festival that symbolises the rich spiritual and cultural dynamics of the State capital informs why all stakeholders must join hands to further raise its bar in the world map.

The Union also felicitates with the devotees of the Osun deity, the Ataoja-in-council, community leaders, the State government, market men, and women, the business community, the indigenes and residents of Osogbo as well as other stakeholders on the 2024 Osun-Osogbo festival.

“On behalf of the members of Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU) home and abroad, the Union executives felicitate with all sons and daughters of Osogboland on the 2024 Osun-Osogbo festival.

The statement added that the international festival attracts people from different parts of the world to our beautiful city is of great significance to the culture, economy and overall development of Osogbo..

“We congratulate specially our father, the custodian of Osun-Osogbo, Kabiyesi Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, his queens, the royal families, the Ataoja-in-Council, community heads and leaders, traders, artisans and the entire indigenes and residents of the Osun State capital on the occasion.

“We must commend Baba Ataoja for his concerted strides on making the festival be a window of development to the ancient town.

“We wish to also urge our people at home and in diaspora as well as other well meaning NIgerians to facilitate contributions that will see to the development of Osogbo.

“We wish all indigenes and residents of Osogbo a happy celebration. Osun-Osogbo a gbe wa ooo.,” the statement concluded.
