The Southwest Council of Political Technocrats (SWCPT) has commended efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on the conduct of the just concluded Osun governorship election.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director: Government and Public Affairs, Prince OLOKE, Kehinde Alexander, praised the electoral body for complying with the provisions of the Electoral Act, especially on improving inclusivity by providing assistance technology for persons with disabilities, and for efficient election logistics arrangement which saw early deployment of officials and materials to the polling units across the state.
The group also eulogised the media and other stakeholders for their efforts in ensuring peaceful and nonviolent elections and the electorates for an inclusive and participatory election in the state.
“The 2022 Osun Governorship Election had generated much interest in the country and I wish to implore the INEC to keep the tempo and make necessary amendments where necessary as we prepare for the 2023 general elections.”
SWCPT, which observed the electioneering process, expressed satisfaction on the high level of voters’ mobilisation by the media and civil society groups.
