The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council, Osun Axis, has accused past leaders of impersonating current leaders, warning them to desist from this unlawful act and urging security agencies to intervene.

The Chairman, NANS JCC Osun axis, Comrade Solomon Ayobami Abel, revealed that some individuals, including graduates that no longer affiliated with the student body are masquerading as NANS JCC leaders in Osun.

He called on security agencies to take immediate action against them.

According to Abel, “We have been made aware that some individuals, some of whom have graduated and are no longer students, are parading themselves as leaders of NANS JCC in Osun.

“These individuals are impostors and should be completely ignored going forward. We urge them to desist from such actions, as they are detrimental to our organization’s image and integrity. We will not tolerate any further impersonation. We urge security agencies to take necessary action against these impostors.

Speaking on the agenda of the new leadership of the union, he said “We will prioritize the effective welfare of all students and commit to their well-being. We shall represent the interests of students across all tertiary institutions in Osun State.

“This administration will strive to bring a fresh vision of empowerment for every student in Osun, focusing on serving as a bridge between students and the opportunities they need to succeed. We shall partner with the government, private sector, and civil societies to create tangible opportunities in fields like technology, entrepreneurship, and the arts.

“This administration shall be committed to fostering a culture of transparency and accountability within NANS/JCC Osun Axis. We shall prioritize open communication and active engagement with all students, ensuring that the voices of the many, not the few, shape the policies and initiatives of the association.

“We shall be committed to revitalizing NANS JCC Osun Axis, making it a force to be reckoned with once again. We shall return NANS to its roots as a movement built by students, for students. This vision is to create a stronger, more united student body that can advocate for its rights, drive meaningful change, and build a brighter future for all students.

“This leadership will restore NANS to its rightful place as a leading voice in student activism.”

He, however, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for unwavering commitment to the growth of education and overall development of Osun State.

He said “His efforts in delivering dividends of democracy to Osun people is clear even to the blind to see. Our administration shall continue to support the policies and programs of the Adeleke administration.

“We also commend the dynamic and tireless Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Matters, Comrade Aderoju Bashiru, for his continued support and cooperation that has ensured peace and progress within the students’ community in Osun State.
