The Akire of Ikire-Ile Kingdom, Oba Abdulazeez Olatunbosun, a traditional ruler in Osun State, has faulted the popular Fuji Maestro, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1, for disrespecting the Oluwo of Iwoland, Abdurasheed Adewale Akanbi.

Oba Olatunbosun described the action of the musician as a flagrant disrespect to traditional institution.

In a viral video clip, KWAM1 was seen greeting Oba Akanbi in a manner that suggested that the monarch was his intimate friend but he queried Oluwo for not inviting him for the installation of the publisher of Ovation Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu as the Aare Atayese of Iwoland.

In his reaction, Oba Olatunbosun said the action of the musician was not just a disrespect to Oba Akanbi but the traditional institution.

“K1 may have one thousand and one reasons to establish the kind of intimacy between him and Oba Abdurasheed Adewale Akanbi in the public, but not to the level of desecration.”

“Wasiu Ayinde Marshall has taken Oluwo’s simplicity, uncommon friendly interactions and sociocentrism for granted. His attitude was degrading even to himself. The fact that his contribution to the growth and promotion of African percussion is well acknowledged shouldn’t be a yardstick to be rude or get intoxicated with the success attained.

“However, to forestall reoccurrence, Oluwo should see the matter beyond triviality. There’s need to caution anyone (I mean the likes of Wasiu) whose action or attitude is capable of denigrating and disparaging the exalted post that we occupy.

“I agree with the opinion that Royal Fathers should observe restrictive culture as known with ancient forebears. This will serve as a measure to curb the arrogance and excesses of our subjects,” he said.
