Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers who specialized in robbing motorcyclists in the state.
The suspects, Ajibade Faruq 23year-old, Olayemi Abiodun 22-year-old and Aworinde 25-year-old were all paraded at the police headquarters, Osogbo, state capital on Friday.
The Commissioner Of Police, Cp Olawale Olokode said the command tracked down the suspects to Saki in Oyo State where one of the suspect was arrested with the robbed motorcycle who claimed to bought it at the rate of N140,000 in Ibadan.
Olokode stated that the motorcycle robbery case which claimed the life of the motorcyclist was reported to the police Command on 19 November, 2021 which occurred at the Fountain University area, Osogbo led to the arrest of the suspects.
According to him, the arrested principal suspect confessed that they sold the snatched motorcycle to the first receiver one Akeem a.k.a Eye at the sum of eighty thousand naira only in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of one of the principal suspects one Aworinde Wale ‘m’ who confessed to the alleged crime and one Olayemi Abiodun ‘m’ who bargained to have sold the gun used for the operation to the principal suspects at the sum of thirty thousand naira only (N30,000) and had once been involved in the case of stealing motorcycles and murder in 2019 while his gangs are still in prison.
“And having sold the said motorcycle, the second principal suspect who is at large one Idris gave the first principal suspect Ten thousand naira only (N10,000) from the proceed of the sold motorcycle and ran away with the remaining seventy thousand naira only (N70,000).
However, CP said that investigation is in progress as efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects is on track. Adding that the apprehended suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
