A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, Honourable Kayode Ogundele, has charged prominent Ile-Ife sons and daughters to desist from act of individualism and selfishness for the town to attain its greatness.
Kayode made this known while reacting to purported story of Ife producing the next Governor in 2026, he said the town may not produce Governor now until some people killed their individualistic tendency and seek collaboration with other people in the state for support.
According to him, some prominent individuals have not been helping this town in terms of development needed to transform it into a city.
“If Ile-Ife wants to produce the next governor, there is need to do the political arithmetic before pursuing such agenda. Before Ife can produce governor, it needs the support of other zones to realise the ambition. The votes of Ife alone cannot produce the governor. We need to bring others to our side if we are serious about it.
“Ife cannot contest now. If after governor Ademola Adeleke second term, Ife contested then everybody can support such a candidate. Only Ile-Ife votes cannot make anybody governor in Osun. Selfishness cannot make Ife governor. Ife should look beyond an individual. No collective interest for Ife”, he declared.
“No single voice to fight for Ife agenda. The era of political thug has gone. Individuality is high and the interest of Ife is not matter to them. The rascals have taken over Ife. But there is hope for Ife. Change is constant. The there is need to shun individualism for the interest of Ife.
The social life has been abolished”.
Reacting to the recent defection of Dr Akin Ogunniyi and Prince Dotun Babayemi, Kayode said the defectors are no longer members of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State. They are once members of the party but they had been expelled from the party. Akin Ogunbiyi contested under Accord Party in the last 2022 Governorship election in the state.
“They did not decamped from PDP but from other parties. PDP still stands as one indivisible family. They did not worked for PDP in the last election, then how do you regard those as PDP decampe? They are looking for patronage, when they see that things are no longer working they will still look elsewhere to go.
“There is no ideology in party politics today. The decampe moved from house of peace to house of discord. There is already discord in APC. There are different groups in APC which are working in different directions.
“Their defection will not affect the future of the party because they are no longer with the PDP. I wish the defectors goodluck. People without determination cannot stay in the PDP”,Kayode noted.
Kayode described Governor Ademola Adeleke as a listening Governor who does the yearnings and aspirations of the people. The interest of the people is paramount to him, and reverses policies and programmes that are not in the interest of the people.
He said the governor achievements within one year are monumental. “He has revolutionized Osun. Modernisation has commenced on Osun. This will positively affect the economy of Osun and Ile Ife in particular”.
“The civil servants are being treated well. They are the backbone of government. The governor is doing well for them. This governor is a God sent to Osun”.
He therefore, called on the people in the state to continue supporting Governor Ademola Adeleke administration with a view to enjoy dividends of democracy, urging them to support the governor for second term so that he can continue his good job in taken the state to a greater height.
