The aspiration of Dr. Adewale Majeed Salami to represent Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives received renewed support on Wednesday as hundreds of party faithful stormed his residence in a peaceful solidarity gathering.

Dr. Adewale Majeed Salami, popularly known in political circles as “Transformer,” declared that he remains fully in the race for the House of Representatives seat under the Accord Party in Osun State.

He made the declaration while addressing supporters who converged on his residence to seek clarification over rumours of alleged imposition of another aspirant within the constituency.

The leading aspirant dismissed the speculations making rounds across the federal constituency, insisting that no individual or group could intimidate him out of the contest.

He maintained that his ambition was driven by the collective desire of the people for fairness, justice and balanced representation within the E4 Federal Constituency.

According to him, the agitation for Ejigbo to produce the next representative at the Green Chamber was not borne out of hatred or division but a legitimate demand for equity among the four local governments that make up the constituency.

Dr. Salami urged his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding despite the growing tension surrounding the contest.

He appealed to party members to continue mobilising support for the Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

The aspirant said political maturity and unity among party faithful were necessary to ensure victory for the ruling party during the forthcoming governorship election.

He warned against actions and utterances capable of causing division within the party structure at the grassroots level.

Speaking further, Dr. Salami expressed confidence in the leadership of the party both at the state and constituency levels.

He stated that leaders of the party would carefully consider the plights and demands of Ejigbo people before taking any final decision on the House of Representatives ticket.

He assured supporters that justice and fairness would ultimately prevail in the interest of peace and political stability within the constituency.

According to him, the voices of the people cannot be ignored in a democratic setting where internal consultation and popular participation remain critical.

The gathering later turned into a peaceful protest as youths, women and party leaders from Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo local governments marched in solidarity with the aspirant.

The supporters chanted songs to demanding justice and zoning of the ticket to Ejigbo Local Government.

The protesters warned the Accord Party against taking actions capable of jeopardising the political fortunes of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the August election.

They maintained that imposing any aspirant against the wishes of the people could negatively affect the unity and strength of the party across the constituency.

Some of the protesters argued that Ejigbo deserves the opportunity to produce the next House of Representatives member considering the current political arrangement within the constituency.

They stressed that since Ede presently occupies the governorship position in the state, fairness demands that Ejigbo should be considered for the federal legislative seat.

The supporters also declared their opposition to what they described as a “third-term agenda” within the constituency.

According to them, allowing a particular local government to retain the position for another term would be politically unhealthy and contrary to the spirit of inclusion and equity.

They described the alleged third-term bid as strange and barbaric to the political history of the E4 Federal Constituency.

The protesters maintained that power rotation remains one of the strongest instruments for promoting peace and unity among the constituent local governments.

Several women leaders who spoke during the gathering appealed to party elders and stakeholders to listen to the cry of the grassroots members.

They argued that denying Ejigbo the opportunity to contest the seat could discourage loyal supporters who have worked tirelessly for the success of the party.

Some youth leaders also alleged that certain politicians were invoking the name of the Adeleke political dynasty to advance personal interests within the party.

They warned party members against being misled by individuals seeking political advantage through name-dropping and manipulation.

According to the protesters, the Adeleke political family is widely respected for its commitment to fairness and democratic values.

They therefore urged political actors to stop dragging the family into controversies surrounding the House of Representatives contest.

The supporters reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Ademola Adeleke and pledged continued support for the administration.

However, they insisted that their support should not be mistaken for silence in the face of what they described as political injustice against Ejigbo people.

As political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the elections, observers believe that the agitation for zoning and equitable representation may shape the political direction of the E4 Federal Constituency in the coming months.

Party leaders are therefore expected to intensify consultations to prevent further division among stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Dr. Adewale Majeed Salami reiterated his commitment to peaceful political engagement and grassroots mobilisation.

He assured his supporters that he would continue to pursue his aspiration with dignity, consultation and unwavering faith in the democratic process.
