Ex-Osun Commissioner Taiwo Akeju Quits APC
A former Osun State Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon. Taiwo Akeju, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akeju, who served under the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, announced his resignation in a letter dated June 4, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Ward 01, Iwara, in Atakumosa East Local Government Area of Osun State.
In the letter, the former commissioner said his decision takes immediate effect, describing it as a personal choice made after a thorough assessment of his political journey.
“I hereby resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress. Please note that this resignation takes immediate effect. This decision is personal and taken after a careful review of my political journey,” the letter read.
Although Akeju did not state the reasons behind his departure from the ruling opposition party in the state, his resignation comes amid increasing political activities and realignments ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
