One Dead, Several Injured as Trailer Rams into APC Members Staging Solidarity

One person has reportedly been dead and several others severely injured after a trailer reportedly rammed into supporters of the All Progressives Congress during a “Walk for Ambo Victory” campaign in Oke Gada, Ede, Osun State.

It was gathered that the deceased simply identified as Armed met his untimely death during the programme.

The Head of Media and Publicity for the Bola Oyebamiji “Ambo for 2026” Governorship Campaign in Ila/Ifedayo/Boluwaduro Federal Constituency, Olufunsho Fagbohungbe announced the incident in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Fagbohungbe said the driver of the trailer claimed he lost control due to brake failure before the vehicle ran into the APC supporters who were participating in the walk.

“Sad! A trailer whose driver claimed had brake failure ran into our APC people doing their Walk for Ambo Victory at Oke Gada, Ede. It claimed a life already and left many injured severely,” he wrote.

Several injured persons were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention, while sympathisers and emergency responders moved quickly to assist victims at the scene.

Reacting, the Director of Media and Information of the APC in Osun State, Kola Olabisi, confirmed the incident and disclosed that the party had dispatched a team to ascertain the actual cause of the accident.

Olabisi said the team was expected to submit its findings, after which the party would provide more detailed information on the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

“We have sent a team to investigate the incident and determine what actually happened. As soon as the team returns with its findings, we will be in a position to provide more details,” he said.

As of press time, the Osun State Police Command and other relevant authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the accident.
