The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, chapter has resolved to tarry on the commencement of her strike actions for two weeks to assess the readiness of the Osun State Government to fulfill its promises to the union.
It would be recalled that the Union had issued a 7-day ultimatum to the state government of Osun to meet her demands among which are scaling up of Tertiary Institutions Salary Table to 100% and Retirement Age Law for Academic Staff of Osun State-Owned Tertiary Institutions.
The ASUP at its Congress held on Thursday 24th of February,2022 at the union’s Secretariat, Iree, Boripe Local Government area of state, declared that there would be no option left than strike action if the government fails to act as promised.
THE SOURCE gathered that the Union ‘ASUP’ on Monday February 21, 2022, met with the Osun State Government representatives led by the Head of Service, Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade.
According to a reliable source which told this medium that the ASUP would have been on strike by now if not for the meeting the union held with the government representatives after the 7-day ultimatum issued earlier elapsed.
The Congress, therefore, gave the state government of Osun additional two weeks to fulfill all the promises, noting that they arrived at tarrying for another 14 days due to the ongoing discussions with the government.
