Over 200 indigenes of osun state were at the weekend empowered by the Christ United Ministries International (CUMI) And City Changers International.

Speaking at the empowerment programme organised by the ministries in collaboration with other Christian community from different local government area in the state, the general overseer of (CUMI), Apostle Mathew Oluwajoba, told newsmen that, the. Church embarked on the empowerment programme to alleviate poverty in the society.

Apostle Oluwajoba who explained that, the programme was aim to empower them to implement trade facilitation reforms in a coordinated manner, promised not to relent in adding more values to the down trodden ones and the society at large.

He maintained that, “we are here for revival which was concluded yesterday, I felt that the state and Nigeria need a rival, we have concluded that yesterday and today, we are here for an empowerment programme for our people. We need to support people, people are suffering and it is not only government that should help the society, individuals and churches can also do that.”

“Beside empowering hundreds of the indigents through training and sponsoring the setting up of those trained, people would go home with food stuff at the end of the exercise.

“We need to support people, people are suffering and it is not only government that should help the society, individuals and churches can also do that.

“Our church wants to support people especially small scale businesses by making people understand how they can function well by staying independent to achieve their goals.

“We have brought trainers with several entrepreneurship skills to teach people in the church skills. We give them money to trade and we have registered beneficiaries. We are also embarking on feeding the needy in the society.

He stressed that, the empowerment move, would further provide an intensive professional capacity building and opportunity for traders who were unable to get themselves established before as a result of a lack of funds to do so now.

The clergy argued that, with the empowerment, there would be room for self reliance and self dependent on the part of the beneficiaries who would in return contribute positively to the progress of the immediate environments they might found themselves.

Apostle Oluwajoba who charged every politician in the country to act as fathers and not as leaders at the corridor of power to be able to take care of their citizens wholeheartedly said, if this is done, the suffering of the people will be minimized.

According to him,”A father will suffer and take everything including pains and bullet for his children. Leader will just put followers on the line. Example is biblical Moses and Joshua”

He thereafter charged christian bodies in the country to always pray for their leaders to be able to steer the ship of the land to a verge of success.

Oluwajoba further asked Nigerians to go back to God saying, the rate at which human blood is being shed is agonizing.

In her own contributions, Mrs. Convenance Oluwajoba, said, “We have great numbers of people who will benefit from the empowerment but we have over 200 people here. Beneficiaries must have a business plan and we are partnering with community bank.

One of the beneficiaries who simply identified herself as Wumi, commended the organisers of the programme and prayed to God to fortify them the more to alleviate poverty in the circle of less privileged ones.

She said that, she had been trained in soap making and.promised to give back to the society through enhanced productivity that would add values to inhabitants of her immediate environment.
