An Osogbo magistrates court, Osun State, on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year-old man, Hammed Azeez to 12 Months imprisonment for stealing four pumping machines valued at N705,000 in an hotel.
Azeez was convicted and sentenced by
Magistrate Daramola on three count charges.
According to information gathered by our correspondent Azeez was arraigned alongside Adekunle Joshua, 36-year-old in April 10, 2022, before Magistrate Daramola on a three-count charge bordering on Conspiracy, Felony, and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP, Fagboyingbo Abiodun told the court that the convict committed the offense on April, 6 at about 3:04 am at Ideal Nest Hotel in Osogbo, Osun state capital.
Abiodun explained that the convict stole four Pumping Machines worth Seven hundred and five thousand (N705,000.00) property of Ideal nest hotel and sold the items to one Adekunle Joshua.
The prosecutor stressed that Joshua bought the items from Azeez knowing fully that it was stolen.
According to him, the offense contravenes Section 516, 390(9), and 427 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 2 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2022.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the allegations on the first day of arraignment and were granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each.
While delivering judgment, the Magistrate on Tuesday discharged Adekunle Joshua on count 1 and found Hammed Azeez guilty on count 2.
Magistrates Daramola sentenced Hammed Azeez to 1year imprisonment with an option of fine of the sum of N200,000.
