The remains of Tunde Mark, son of former senate president David Mark, was on Saturday laid to rest in his hometown of Otukpo, Benue, amidst tears.

Mr Tunde, who died on October 21, 2022, in a London hospital at 51, had battled cancer for over a year.

In a statement issued by Paul Mumeh, Mr Mark’s media aide, on Saturday in Minna, Mr Mumeh said the burial rites began on November 9, with the service of songs in Abuja.

He added that Mr Tunde’s body was accompanied by family and friends to Otukpo for a wake on Thursday, November 10 and committed to mother earth on Friday, November 11.

He said personalities that attended the burial included Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, his deputy, Benson Abonu, Senate minority leader, Philip Aduda and Senator Abba Moro.

Others are former senator representing Nasarawa South, Suleman Adokwe, former governor of Kogi, Idris Wada, Lekan Mustapha, Bishop Michael Apochi of Otukpo Catholic diocese, Innocent Jooji, among others.

Many attendees described the deceased as humble and intellectual with analytical skills.

The former Senate president’s tribute to his late son was read by Mr Tunde’s younger brother, David Mark Jnr and Blessing Onyeche-Onuh, member, Federal House of Representatives representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency.
