The disengaged former Chief Executive Officer of OSUN DEFENDER Newspaper, Mr. Ayo Akinola, yesterday failed to show up before the Federal High Court in Osogbo, State of Osun where he was to be arraigned for alleged N25m fraud by the Police.

Akinola was accused of diverting the sum of N25m meant for the company to his own personal account.

He separated from OSUN DEFENDER on December 10, 2019, having been found guilty of economic sabotage.

Akinola was supposed to appear before Justice Emmanuel Ayoola of High Court 1 on Thursday for his trial.

Police prosecutor, J.O. Famuyi, told the court that Akinola called him yesterday morning to inform him that he had tested positive to Coronavirus pandemic and was in isolation centre.

According to Famuyi, Akinola sent a medical report to his phone to buttress his point, saying that he was said to be in isolation centre.

He added that the defence counsel also called to inform him that he was terribly sick and would not be able to attend the proceedings.

He prayed the court to adjourn the case till March at the instance of the suspect.

However, Justice Emmanuel Ayoola adjourned the case till March 23, 2021 for trial.
