An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ on Monday, ordered the remand of Adeniji Olusola, 38, (m) Paul Folorunso, 45, (m) and Adebayo Serifat, 40, (f) at the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti over alleged conspiracy, murder.
The defendants, whose address was not provided are being tried for alleged conspiracy and murder.
The police counsel, Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) Martins Akala, sought the order of the court to grant the prayer of the State Commissioner of Police as contained in the request before the court.
The defendants committed the offence on March 20 in Omuo-Ekiti.
The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mr Julius Ajibare, stressed the intention of the State to take over the matter.
The defendants conspired to murder and murder Babatunde Adeleye (m)and Bola Adebisi (f).
The defendants were also accused of attempting to murder Woman Sergeant Bukola Olawoye, Akanle Oluwadare, (m) Tosin Adeniyi (f) and Omolola Emmanuel (m).
The offences contravened Section 516, 319(1) and 320 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The DPP submitted that Section 26 Sub-Section L of the Administration of Criminal Justice Rules 2020 and Section 211 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, which empowers the state to take over any criminal matter at any stage before the judgement is pronounced.
The Chief Magistrate Court, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, consequently, ordered the remand of the defendants at the correctional facility pending issuance of legal advice.
He adjourned the case until April 19 for mention.
