My ZLP senatorial ticket inconsequential, says new Labour Party campaign DG Osuntokun

Akin Osuntokun, new director-general of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, says he bears no moral burden being a senatorial candidate in another party -Zenith Labour Party.

Mr Osuntokun described his ZLP senatorial ticket as a “redundant position”, adding that he was now stepping into “greater moral consequence for Nigeria” as the campaign head of the Peter Obi/Yusuf Datti presidential race.

The former presidential aide to ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo made the assertion while responding to an interviewer’s query on Channels TV Wednesday night.

Before now, Mr Osuntokun had served as the South-West Coordinator for the ObiDatti presidential campaign.

“There is no moral burden. Stop using that word. I have no moral burden,” Mr Osuntokun retorted. “I’m stepping into a higher sacrificial position.”

The Zenith Labour Party is an offshoot of the Labour Party founded by a breakaway faction of the Labour Party a few years ago.

Mr Osuntokun’s appointment comes after the resignation of Doyin Okupe, recently convicted of laundering federal funds during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
