A group christened the Equity and Justice Forum, North-Central Zone, has passionately appealed to the All Progressive Congress (APC) leadership to consider the Deputy Speaker, House Representatives, Hon. Idris Wase, for the speakership of the 10th Assembly.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday in Jos, Plateau State, the chairman of the group, Nuhu Ayuba Shikdima, said that based on his track record, the deputy speaker is more suitable and qualified to lead the green chamber based on his wealth of experience as a federal lawmaker in the past 16 years.
“As a group, we want to, as a matter of concern and appeal, ask the National Chairman of our great party and his executive to consider our passionate appeal for the emergence of the Rt. Hon. Idris Wase Maje is the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
“We equally appeal to the President-elect and his vice president-elect to throw their weight behind the experience of the experienced legislator for the speakership.” “This astute politician has exhibited a high loyalty to the party and his principal during the 9th Assembly and has been a unifier in all ramifications.”
“We are also mindful of the Party’s consideration to give every geopolitical zone a leadership position for equity, justice, and fairness in governance.” On account of this, we call on the party leadership to consider swapping positions that were hitherto in the North to the South and those that were in the South to the North. This will calm nerves should there be any manner or form of distrust by any part of the nation. It declared
It added that the forum has thrown its weight solely behind Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase because of the wealth of experiences and positions he has held in life that have made him highly competent and equipped for such a critical position, which will lend credence to good governance and development.
“At this juncture, as loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), we are poised to humbly appeal to the conscience of our Party Leadership, which are the National Executive of our Great Party and the National Working Committee of APC, to consider the man Ahmed Idris Wase for the leadership of the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.” The group added
The group noted that their appeals go with the fact that the North Central Zone of the country needs a reliable, ranking, loyal, and experienced legislator who will harness his wealth of knowledge of leadership and bring to bear a united governance in the country.
