Barrister Saheed Olayemi Abiona has been elected as the new chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA Osogbo branch.

Abiona was announced elected and returned unopposed by the Chairman of the NBA electoral committee, Mr K. B. Odedeji at the NBA Secretariat, Prophet Babalola’s House Osogbo.

Presenting his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, My Abiona thanks God for His mercy and members of the Association for the trust reposed in him to lead the NBA.

“We can’t claim our wins without punctuating to give God, the most faithful and merciful the glory *HE* deserves after which we must pause to thank you all gentlemen for reposing your trust in us to steer the ship of this NOBLE Association at the branch level for the next 2 years.”

He also commended the efforts of other lawyers who contested in other positions but did not secure a win, pleading with them to support him to move the branch forward.

“I also wish to appreciate the effort of our colleagues that also wished to serve the branch in one capacity or the other during the electioneering process but couldn’t garner enough votes to be declared winners, I say your time shall come as we can only have a winner at a time for a position. I hope you will not be deterred in your quest as I greatly look forward to your support and participation in moving the branch forward.”

The NBA Osogbo Branch Chairman elect promised to provide a purpose driven and transparent leadership for the legal profession

“I will do everything to justify the trust you have in me while I still look forward to your continued support and encouragement as we embark on this journey. With Almighty God and your support, we can move mountains”

Lawyers who spoke on the occasion expressed confidence in the leadership of Mr Abiona and other new executive members, with a call on them to be selfless.
