Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos State on Thursday remanded a visually impaired man identified as Francis Ugachukwu to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for reportedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

New Telegraph reports that the Court presided over by Justice Abiola Soladoye remanded Ugachukwu pending the hearing and filing of his bail application.

According to the reports, the defendant was arraigned on a one-count charge of defilement.

Abimbola Abolade, the State Prosecution Counsel, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in November 2022, at No. 16 Kareem Giwa Street, Abule-Osun, Ojoo, Lagos State.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
