Eight years on from their memorable British title clash back in 2015 at the 02 Arena, old foes Joshua and Whyte will do it all over again at that same venue on August 12.
Joshua emerged victorious that night by way of a stunning seventh round knockout, and Eubank told Boxing Social he is envisaging a similar result second time around.
Asked if he Whyte was the opponent that could see the two-time world champion return to his older, more destructive ways, Eubank said yes.
“I think so. It’s gonna be a great fight. The first fight was great to watch. I think that’s the perfect opponent to get AJ back to his old ways, back to his winning ways.
It’s a tough fight for him, but if he’s been preparing like I know he has, I think he’s gonna do the job.”
Joshua had his first outing under new trainer Derrick James back in April, a relatively underwhelming decision victory against Jermaine Franklin.
However, Joshua and Whyte have been rivals since they were novice amateurs, and there is indeed this sense that ‘The Bodysnatcher’ could be the perfect opponent to bring the spite back into Joshua’s boxing.
With a money spinning dust up with Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia at risk, the stakes couldn’t really be much higher for ‘AJ.’
Eubank Jr, of all people, can perhaps relate to the pressure Joshua is feeling, as he will attempt to get revenge on Liam Smith in a rematch of his own, after the Liverpudlian became the first fighter to stop him in January of this year.
