The 2023 US Open is here, and as always, the last Grand Slam promises to be a great spectacle, also thanks to an attractive draw.
After the first three majors of the season, it’s time to conclude the list of Grand Slam champions in 2023 from August 28 to September 10th in Flushing Meadows, New York. The 2023 US Open has been long-awaited, especially because of the rivalry between two of the biggest stars on the ATP Tour.
Once again, Carlos Alcaraz is going to enter a Grand Slam tournament as the top seed, but this time, he will be also the defending champion, having won the tournament last year. On his maiden title defence at a Grand Slam level, the 20-year-old Spaniard will play against Dominik Koepfer in the first round.
On the opposite side of the draw is Novak Djokovic, the 36-year-old attempting to win his 24th major. After missing the last two editions of the New York major, the Serb is ready to give it his all, starting against Alexandre Muller in the first round of the tournament.
One very interesting name in the draw is John Isner. The home crowd favourite never missed the US Open when he could take part at the event, and after many years on the ATP Tour, he’s retiring after this year’s event. His possibly farewell match in the first round of the tournament will see him take on Facundo Diaz Acosta.
Besides two major favourites, there will also be multiple challengers for the title. Daniil Medvedev knows how it feels to win the US Open, but the Russian struggled with his form a bit recently. Yet, he may easily overcome that in the first round, starting against Attila Balasz.
Holger Rune won the race for the fourth seed spot, as the young Dane will avoid the three biggest favourites at least until the semifinals. Yet, he has different problems right now, fighting a possible injury, and that will be put into test in the first round against Roberto Carballes Baena.
When talking about favourites, Jannik Sinner’s name can’t be skipped. The young Italian is capable of winning a Grand Slam, and he will try to prove that in New York. In the first round of the tournament, he will play against Yannick Hanfmann.
As always, the draw for the last major of the season offers multiple thrilling first-round matches, but also possible second-round matchups. To see the full draw for the 2023 US Open, be sure to check it out below.
