The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his efforts in enforcing the full implementation of the policy guidelines of the teacher’s elongation policy in the state.
The human rights group through its State Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Olowu, said CDHR sincerely commends Governor on your stance in ensuring that the beneficiaries of the teaching service elongation policy are eligible and ready to follow the guidelines of the policy.
According to statement, “would like you to note that your decision to put an end to the impunity of the previous beneficiaries of the policy, and the laxity of the Head of Service, Mr Samuel Ayanleye Aina who failed to implement the policy guideline, reflects your determination and readiness to put an end to economic wastage and to ensuring academic excellence in the public schools.
“This is certainly a fruitful struggle for CDHR.
“However, we would like to bring to the notice of Mr Governor again, another aberration in the State civil service which has to do with the tenure elongation for the Accountant General and Head of Service in the State.
“We hope that through your good conscience and listening ears, you shall revert the letter of extension of service year given to the Head of Service, Mr. Samuel Ayanleye Aina, and enforce the retirement of the Accountant General, Mr Rasheed Olalere Alabi who has spent Twenty-One (21) days in office after his actual retirement age. Mr Governor should note that any payment signed by Mr. Rasheed Olalere Alabi is void and illegal. We hope that all retiring Permanent Secretaries which include the Accountant General, Auditor Generals, Surveyor General, Statistician General, and the like, who have reached the age of 60 or spent 35 years in service would go on retirement immediately.
“If you do not fight all these illegalities now, they will fight you back, because bad precedence, crippled career progression, corrupt practices, and nepotism will increase and the standard of the Osun Public Service will be subverted.
In conclusion, Mr Governor, if the illegal extensions of service years of the above-mentioned officers are not reversed, we hereby inform you that further necessary actions will be taken without further delay.
