Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has declared Monday,the 8th of July as public holiday to commemorate the Islamic New Year,Hijrah 1446.
This is contained in a press statement issued on Thursday, 4th of July,2024 by the Commissioner for Home Affairs,Mr Rasheed Aderibigbe on behalf of the state government.
While wishing the entire Muslim ummah a happy celebration,the release adds that,Governor Adeleke,would on Sunday, 7th of July,2024,preside over a special parade cum match past,at Osogbo township stadium,Osogbo,as part of the series of activities lined up by the Government to usher in the Islamic new year in grand style.
Part of the Press Statement issued to that effect by Hon.Aderibigbe on behalf of the Governor and made available to newsmen reads;
“The public holiday graciously approved by His Excellency,Senator Ademola Adeleke is to allow Muslim faithful to celebrate and pray for peace, progress and development of the state and Nigeria as a whole.
“Governor Adeleke wishes all Muslim faithful a happy celebration of the new Islamic year,Hijrah 1446 AH” ended the statement by the Commissioner for Home Affairs,Hon.Rasheed Aderibigbe.
