Transfer: Chelsea Sign Nigerian Eligible Full-Back, Yisa Alao
Chelsea have beaten other competitors in the transfer of Nigerian eligible talented 17-year-old fullback, Yisa Alao.
Aloa, who has Nigerian heritage, will join the Blues from Sheffield Wednesday.
Chelsea managed to secure his move, beating out three other Premier League teams in the process, as reported by transfer market expert, Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer is said to involve an upfront fee that is more than £500,000, and there are also extra payments tied to performance that are part of the deal.
Alao has been a key player at Sheffield Wednesday, moving up through the club’s academy since he first joined at the age of seven.
He made his first appearance for the senior team when he played against Bolton Wanderers in August 2025.
This season, he has been called up to the first team several times and has played in matches across the Championship, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup.
The young fullback got his first chance to start for the first team in an FA Cup game against Brentford.
He played for an hour, but the team lost 2-0. His displays have caught the eye of a few big Premier League teams, but Chelsea managed to get him to join their squad.
Alao’s transfer to Chelsea marks an important moment in his career, giving him a chance to grow and improve at one of the top clubs in England.
The young fullback’s journey from the academy to playing in senior matches shows his ability and preparedness to compete at the highest level.
Chelsea’s signing of Alao shows the club is still focused on bringing in young players who have the ability to join the first team in the next few years.
Once the agreement is finalized, the defender will join the Blues and keep developing his skills in a Premier League environment.
