Ile-Ife Flyover: Adeleke Breaks History -Durojaye

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Osun State on Cooperatives and Empowerment, Hon. Durojaye Isaac, has declared that the administration of Ademola Adeleke has “broken history” with the ongoing construction of the Ile-Ife iconic flyover and other landmark infrastructure projects in the ancient city.

Speaking during on the spot assessment visit to the site in Ile-Ife, Durojaye said the ongoing flyover project represents the first of its kind in the city’s history, describing it as a bold step toward transforming Ile-Ife into a modern urban centre.

According to him, previous administrations had made promises about upgrading infrastructure in Ile-Ife but failed to deliver on major projects that would significantly ease traffic congestion and boost economic activities.

The Special Adviser noted that the flyover project, strategically located to address persistent gridlock in the city, when completed, would reshape traffic flow and enhancing commercial prospects.

“Ile-Ife has never had it this good in terms of infrastructure. This flyover is not just a bridge; it is a bridge to economic prosperity and urban renewal. Governor Adeleke has broken history with this intervention,” he said.

He added that the project demonstrates the governor’s commitment to equitable development across Osun State, ensuring that major towns receive impactful projects.

Beyond the flyover, Durojaye highlighted the ongoing dualisation of Iremo Road as another transformative project. He stressed that the expansion of the busy corridor would improve mobility, reduce travel time, and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians.

The dualisation, he said, will also stimulate business activities along the axis, particularly for traders, transport operators, and residents who rely on the road for daily economic activities. “Lagere- Iremo road is a commercial hub of Ile-Ife leading Ooni’s palace. The palace road will now wear a new look”.

“With the Iremo Road dualisation, we are opening up Ile-Ife for greater investment opportunities. It will complement the flyover and create a seamless transportation network within the city,” he stated.

Durojaye urged residents of Ile-Ife and Osun State at large to support Governor Adeleke for a second term, stressing that continuity is essential for completing ongoing projects and initiating new ones.

He argued that the administration’s performance in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, and grassroots development has set a new standard in governance.

“The people of Ile-Ife should vote for Governor Adeleke for a second term because he has demonstrated capacity and sincerity of purpose. These projects are clear evidence that his administration is committed to development that directly impacts the lives of the people,” Durojaye said.

He further assured that more developmental projects are in the pipeline for Ile-Ife, promising that the ancient city would continue to enjoy priority attention under Adeleke’s leadership.

“Ile-Ife should not make mistake of voting APC into power as this is dangerous for ongoing development in Ile-Ife. APC is a party of propagandists, capitalists, anty-masses and progress. It is a poverty induced party”.

Oladele Oluwafemi, Sulaimon Ibrahim, Odugbesan Lateef commended the state government for the visible transformation, expressing optimism that the projects would boost commerce, improve transportation, and enhance the overall image of Ile-Ife.

The Ile-Ife flyover and Iremo road dualisation are among several infrastructural interventions undertaken by the Osun State Government under Governor Adeleke’s administration.
