APC Campaign Council Accuses PDP, Accord of Political Intimidation in Osun

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Campaign Council alleged a rising wave of politically motivated violence against supporters of the party and its governorship candidate ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, Wednesday at the Tinubu/Shettima campaign office, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, accused members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Accord Party of attacking APC supporters and vandalising campaign buses in the Owode-Ede area on Tuesday.

He expressed concern over what it described as increasing political intimidation and harassment in the state, calling on security agencies to investigate the incidents and bring perpetrators to justice.

He appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant agencies to take urgent steps to curb political violence in the state.

According to him, “The alarming rise in politically-motivated violence across our state, targeted primarily at innocent citizens and supporters of our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

“The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) condemns in the strongest possible terms the growing culture of intimidation, harassment, brigandage and violence being perpetrated by criminal elements acting under the influence and protection of the ruling party in the state.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke must immediately call his political foot soldiers, janjaweed and thugs to order before they plunge Osun State into a deeper state of insecurity and make the state increasingly ungovernable.

“Only yesterday, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, campaign buses belonging to the APC were attacked and vandalized by suspected PDP/Accord hoodlums in the Owode-Ede area. The attack left several AMBO supporters injured while campaign materials and other valuable property were destroyed.

“It is important to note that Owode-Ede has, in recent years, gained notoriety as a flashpoint for politically-motivated attacks against members of our party.
