OLOLADE’S TAKE
Ever imagined the delusion of attempting to power a Lamborghini with the engine of the old beetle car? Sounds weird, but it is the closest to Osun PDP’s cacophony of delusional paranoia.
Reading the responses of Osun wing of the All Progressives Congress to PDP’s various allegations, led by Mr Ademola Adeleke and his Transition Committee, has actually birthed a rush of sympathy towards the “acting governor-elect” and his co-travellers for a number of reasons.
One, for a man whose best shot at the question of how he would impact the education sector of the state he sought to govern was “I will declare a state of emergence (full stop)”, it was rather harsh to have exorcised advanced governance tutorial for him and his idle Transition Committee when they raised a faux pas about Oyetola’s approval for additional 1500 teachers to be recruited. Their arguments across different issues have shown just how basic their knowledge of governance is.
Let’s not forget that our “fresh graduate” governor-elect is still grappling with issues as basic as what constitutes government’s concurrent and exclusive list as revealed during the governorship debates. Let’s assume he wasn’t really prepared in 2018; but if after his “igbayi laaro degree” he still speaks the way he does, it certainly means he is not teachable.
Sadly, the experienced minds and elders who could help the ignorant lots in Osun PDP, including the garrulous Party Chairman, have been treated with contempt by this same brood of dead-from-neck-up politicians.
Although Osun government under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has said that it will give priority to rural areas during the distribution of newly recruited teachers, some of us are still of the opinion that some acclaimed elites in the PDP need the services of these teachers. Hopefully, they will be humble enough to learn.
