Over 100 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Sunday joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Iree, Boripe Local Government Council Area of Osun State.

The defectors were received into the party by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke in Iree, headuarters of Boripe North Local Council Development Area.

While revealed reason for joining progressive party APC said their action was borne out of their desire to be part of the developmental feats being recorded by Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the state.

Speaking on their behalf, the Leader of the PDP members in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) extraction, Iree Chapter, Mr. Azeez Oyekanmi assured that over 1000 members of the PDP are warming up to join the APC.

Oyekanmi said the defection would have been effected long ago but for the sudden outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.

He assured that actions would be sped up on how an elaborate decampment programme would be put in place, to be able to officially receive other defectors into the party.

According to him, they have no other choice that to join the progressives family, having noticed the development going on in the state under APC government.

He then pledged their absolute loyalty to the APC and unalloyed supports to the course of promoting good governance as being showcased in the leadership of Governor Oyetola.

Addressing the defector, Prince Adeleke advised them to be committed to their new party and work assiduously in ensuring that the remnants in Iree chapter of the PDP join the ruling party before it is too late.

He assured the defectors that everything possible would be done to ensure that there is no discrimination against them, just as he was optimistic that their defection would be beneficial to all members of the party, both old and new.
