The Elderly Citizens Assistance Scheme (ECAS), a programme initiated by Senator Oluremi Tinubu recently provided food and other relief materials the elderly in different parts of Lagos.
The maiden edition of ECAS took place 2011 and it has become an annual which focus on the welfarism of elderly ones living in Lagos State.
This year’s edition, which took place in the entire 13 Local Government Areas and LCDA’S under Lagos Central Senatorial District.
In her welcome address, the Executive Chairman, of Apapa Local Government, Honourable Idowu Senbanjo, stated the programme is a great initiative of Senator Tinubu, which serves as a means of appreciating the elderly in Lagos and still serve as a form of financial assistance to them.
According to her, for 10 years, in a bid to ensure that no segment of society is left out, Senator Tinubu had ensured that they gather annually to celebrate their older citizens despite of the enormous responsibility.
Senbanjo appreciated the senator for the sustenance of the programme. The LGA boss used the opportunity to implore all elderly citizens to always check their health regularly and visit the clinic with their card provided by Senator Tinubu that will take care of the parents and four household members.
Elderly ones present at the event expressed their deep appreciations to the Tinubu and Senbanjo for the provision of food, financial support and other gift items, saying this will enable them to enjoy their festive period.
