Two men have been arrested for stealing three sheep in Ikirun, Ifelodun local government area of Osun State.
They were nabbed by the recently inaugurated Ikirun Security Joint Taskforce, IKJTF at Eleewaa Community in the ancient town.
IKJTF, set up by the National Ikirun Progressive Union, NIPU, and whose personnel got their training under the Halogen Security Group, was inaugurated to complement the efforts of the conventional security agents in tackling the recurring criminal incidents, and has since been working in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Divisional Headquarters, Ikirun as well as Ikirun Area Commands of both the Police and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
It was gathered that around 3am on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, the security team was on patrol of the town, when they received a call from the Baale of Eleewaa Community on the robbery incident.
According to the source, the two young men, one of them claimed to be a commercial driver, were caught in the act, as they were harbouring the stolen sheep in a fenced yard in the area.They reportedly came with a motorcycle, which they were using for the operation.
The owner of the building was later located, and the suspects confession indicated that they did not know the owner of the building, as they only wanted to keep the animals there for a while, after which they would come with a vehicle to move them out of the community.
As at the time of filing this report, the two suspects and the exhibits had been handed over to the DPO, Ikirun Divisional Police Headquarters, who was quoted as pledging to charge them as soon as possible.
