Ospoly: Mass Comm. Alumni Launches N500m Legacy Hub Project in Osun

The Mass Communication Alumni Association of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (MAOS), has launched a N500 million fundraising for the construction of its National Secretariat and Legacy Hub Complex, describing the project as a long-term investment in the future of the association and its members.
This is as the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Comrade Kehinde Alabi, pledged the institution’s full support for the Legacy Hub Complex project.

Speaking at the launch and fundraising ceremony held in Osogbo on Saturday, the Chairman of the MAOS Board of Trustees, Alh. Moshood Oladosu, said the Legacy Hub would serve as a permanent institution that would sustain the association’s activities and promote its vision for generations to come.

Oladosu said the association established about 15 years ago had continued to promote friendship, professional excellence, members’ welfare and service to humanity through various initiatives.

According to him, the proposed Legacy Hub will house the MAOS National Secretariat, a guest house, an event hall, a gymnasium and recreational facilities designed to generate sustainable revenue and ensure the financial independence of the association.

“Every contribution, regardless of its size, brings us one step closer to realising this dream. We believe this project will become a lasting legacy for future generations of Mass Communication graduates,” he said.

Also speaking, the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Comrade Kehinde Alabi, describing the project as a laudable initiative that would contribute to the growth of journalism education and professional development.

Alabi said the institution had resolved to establish a dedicated Faculty of Mass Communication, a move aimed at strengthening the department and enhancing academic excellence in media and communication studies.

He commended the alumni for being worthy ambassadors of the institution, praising their contributions to the growth and positive image of the polytechnic through their achievements and professionalism.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Alhaji Moshood Sulaimon, has urged members of the association, both at home and in the diaspora, to mentor Mass Communication students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.

Sulaimon said the initiative would equip the students with the knowledge, skills and exposure needed to take advantage of career opportunities before graduation.

Earlier in his address, the National President of MAOS, Adekunle Yakub Sikiru, popularly known as Abacus, described the project as a significant milestone in the history of the association.

He said the Legacy Hub would serve as the permanent administrative headquarters of MAOS and provide facilities for leadership development, mentorship, alumni engagement, professional networking, research, innovation and community service.

He commended the project fundraising committee, National Executive Council, chapter leaders, volunteers, donors and sponsors for their contributions toward the success of the fundraising event.
