Ahead of July 16 governorship election in Osun State, two factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held parallel primaries at different locations in Osogbo, the state capital.
It was gathered that the Wale Ojo’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun conducted a parallel primary at the popular wocdif center, Osogbo.
While the acting chairman of Osun PDP, Sunday Bisi which has the support of the National Secretariat of the party and whose aspirant is Senator Ademola Adeleke held their primaries at Osogbo city stadium.
The deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who was sent by the national secretariat of the party to supervise the primary for Ademola Adeleke’s camp, denied knowledge of parallel primary saying the authentic election was held at Osogbo Township Stadium.
Adeleke got 1,887 votes, Dele Adeleke had 1, Sanya Omirin had 4 while other aspirants hot nothing. There were 24 invalid votes.
Those present at the Osogbo City Stadium venue of the Sunday Bisi led faction include, Chief Ajeigbe, Prof. Wale Oladipo, Bunmi Jenyo, Clement Akanni, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, and Diran Odeyemi,
Other are; Senator Francis Fadahunse, representing Osun East Senatorial District, Rep Ajilesoro Taofeek, representing Ife North Federal Constituency.
However, the Chief Returning officer, Hon. Adelani Ajanaku, who Announced the results of the Wale Ojo led faction said Dotun Babayemi pulled 1781 votes.
The NigeriaNewsDirect correspondent who visited the wocdif center reports that some leaders of the party, who present at the WOCDIF Centre are; former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Deputy Governor, Erelu Olusola Obada, Chiefs Shuaib Oyedokun, Olu Alabi, Tajudeen Oladipo, among others.
