The Aroĺe Oodua, Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II has described Journalists as powerful hands in determining the wellbeing of any country, organization or individual in the society.

Oba Ogunwusi stated this in his palace during a Royal Dinner with members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, on Saturday.

Royal Dinner was part of activities lined up for the NUJ 2020 Press Week.

While speaking, he said “you are doing wonderful and powerful jobs in Nation Building. You can make any individual, organization or country or otherwise, if you want to, with what you write”.

Oba Ogunwusi also encouraged media workers not to look down on themselves because of their financial status, “don’t say you don’t have money, you are very powerful” he said.

The Ooni Ife who reminded Journalists that a former Western Region Prime Minister, Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo started as a Journalist, maintained that the then Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo and others actually organized to put the late sage forward to the position of leadership.

He therefore charged them to continue to project the image of the society.

Oba Ogunwusi who emphasized the Oduduwa’s Palace, Ile-Ife is open to all, thanked Journalists for their professionalism, relentless efforts and cooperation towards the programmes and events of the traditional institution.

Earlier, Osun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu who appreciated the monarch for his cooperation and fatherly strides in Nigeria assured that Journalists in Osun State will continue to work for the wellbeing, sustainability and progress of the programmes of the Ooni of Ife.

He also congratulated the Aroĺe Oodua for the fifth year anniversary on the throne of his fathers as well as the birth of the new heir to the throne of Oduduwa.

The Royal Dinner is a new imput into the annual event of Press Week of the Osun State.
