As part of efforts to ensure environmental hygiene in Osun State, the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN) Osun State Chapter, has charged residents to take concrete actions towards ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment.

The State President of the Association, Sanitarian Ola Sunday Olufemi and Secretary, Sanitarian Akinola Raphael Olutayo gave this charge in a press statement issued and made available to journalists in Osogbo the state capital on Monday towards the celebration of this year “World Environment Day”.
HAPPY WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2023

While reacting on the celebration, the president emphasize that the title, this year, is a clarion call to everyone across the globe to make effort on PLASTIC WASTE – REDUCTION, RE USE AND RECYCLE under Waste minimization and Waste to Wealth, in order to curb the menaces created by PLASTIC use.

The association, therefore, calls on individual citizen of the state to control their obsession for single use plastic and opt for reusable items while also supporting every action to recover, reuse and recycle plastic for the benefits of human health in particular and the environment in general.

The Osun EHOAN who commended Governor Ademola Adeleke of the state for declaring zero tolerance for dirty environment since inception of office, boasted that the state will maintain high level of environmental hygiene under Mr Governor’s watch, adding that with this development, never again will the people see the state being dirty. The leadership of the Association charged Mr Governor to fully absorb younger, qualified and energetic Officers who are presently working as adhoc staffers in the service of LGA and State Govt.

The EHOAN said people must ensure that the state is clean more importantly that we are in the rainy reason.

The Osun Environmental Health Officers Association who described good environment as being critical to healthy living among citizens said, ” environment is particularly an important aspect of life. If you have a good environment, there is possibility that your health is as good as secured. If you have a polluted environment, the reverse will be the case”.

The EHOAN however admonished the entire residents of Osun to always ensure their environment is clean and tidy.

The Environmental Health Officers Association further urged the people to demonstrate their unalloyed support to Governor Adeleke’s efforts towards clean environment across the state.

Recalled that, the United Nations designated every June 5 as World Environment Day to highlight that the protection and health of the environment is a major issue, which affects the well-being of peoples and economic development throughout the world.

The theme for this year World Environment Day is “#Beat Plastic Pollution”
