Former Osun state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke has called on Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, and the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo to caution Governor Ademola Adeleke against attack on the traditional institution.
It would be recalled that Osun State Government in its White Papers released last week nullified the selection process of the Aree of Iree and the Owa of Igbajo and also declared Akirun of Ikirun stool vacant.
The ex-Osun commissioner made the call on Monday in Osogbo, and urged the Yoruba monarchs to call the people at the helms of affairs in the state who don’t understand the ethics of Yoruba to order.
He said that it is necessary the traditional rulers let the government realize Yoruba have tradition and culture.
According to him, “I’m calling on the following Yoruba Obas to come to the aid of Osun and Yorubaland, the Ooni of Ife, Owa of Ijesha and Orangun of Ila. Oluwo of Iwo, Ataoja of Osogbo and our father Timi of Ede that what Governor Adeleke is about to do is going to bring down the traditional institution in Osun.
“Osun is the Heritage of the Yoruba that is where we have Ile-Ife.
“We don’t joke with Obaship in Osun for those who knows it but because this government does not understand it, they think they just do anything against Obaship.
“If at the end of the day is a yes we remove this Oba the Obaship has been politicis When another government comes in they will remove and it will continue like that.
“The government should allow the people to settle whatever they have in court. You cannot take over the responsibility of the judiciary you are a governor.” ex- Osun commissioner
