The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Osun State, has cautioned all the caucuses within the All Progressives Congress to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign in the state
The PDP warned APC no to push the state back into the dark ages of political assassinations on mundane issues of political differences.
The party harped on the maxim by former president Goodluck Jonathan that no ambition of anyone is worth the blood of any citizen of Nigeria.
A statement by the PDP state chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi, said, “For us in the PDP, we have always aligned ourselves with the peaceful disposition of the leader of the state, His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. We align with his views that there can never be meaningful development in an atmosphere of war and bloodshed.
“We appeal to both the aggressors and the bullied caucuses in the opposition fold to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign in the state”
“The PDP administration led by our amiable Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, will not tolerate any attempt by any political group or association to interject the prevailing peace in the state with horrible assassination attempts on the life of anyone, political party affiliations not withstanding.
“The PDP government takes exception to brutal gun attacks which became order of the day during the immediate past APC administration of Mr Gboyega Oyetola in Osun State.
‘The daylight gun attacks on Oranmiyan house where members of a caucus of the APC were holding their public meetings and which saw them escape by the whiskers, would no longer be tolerated in this State.
“A situation where political actors in the Apc threaten themselves openly and with reckless abandon, is unacceptable, as it is inimical to the peace of the state which was engineered and sustained sinçe assumption of office of PDP administration a little over a year ago.
“Using violence to impose unpopular political narratives on the people is no longer tenable. Everybody must go about his political businesses in peace and as obtainable in civilized society.
“The sword of violence contains many sharp and dangerous edges, which is often the case of aggressors, unconsciously courting equal measure of reactions by their victims. That to us, would be a dangerous dimension, which certainly would blow no one any good.
“We again call on the security agencies to be alive to the treacherous tricks of unscrupulous elements in the state, intimidating them into hasty and lopsided arrests, aimed at coercing peace loving members of the public into submission.
“The aggressors of today in the APC must be watched and adequately profiled rather than being pampered through instrumentality of intimidation. The people of Osun State have overgrown such plot of some lazy political outcasts, trying
force themselves on the people. It has never worked and it will not work, even now!
“The security operatives must be aware that no human society can thrive on thorny path of injustice, insecurity and unwarranted intimidation. Allowing themselves to be trapped in the trickery of exchanging or sacrificing victims for the real criminals, is akin to adding salt to injuries of such victims of violence, often aided by unpopular political gluttons, would only breed further insecurity and that must not be allowed to gain traction in Osun State”
“We are not unaware of the arms buildup by a faction of the APC, which is the reason for their naked effrontery of issuing threats to their perceived political opponents. Such evil plan will be thwarted by every means possible under the law”
“Governor Ademola Adeleke is undoubtedly a peace loving leader, but his peaceful stance must not be taken for granted. Anyone or group of people, who indulge in any form of social vices, capable of disrupting wheel of progress of the state, should prepare to face the consequences, no matter whose ox is gored”
“Shedding crocodile tears to confuse the security agencies after perpetrating evil against innocent people of the state, will no longer work, as all elements hiding under such deceitful shield, will henceforth be made to taste the bitter pill of their trade under relevant laws of the country,” the PDP warned.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun warned the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to desist from living in a fool’s paradise by selling a dummy to the public on the true position of the security of the state under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Commenting on the development, the Osun State chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, today, stated that it was strange that such an unguarded allegation about threat to peace and security could be elevated by an assumed party leader.
Lawal noted that those who know the author of the statement might not be bothered much as no discerning mind could expect something better from Sunday Bisi, a natural and habitual drunkard.
According to Lawal: “Is the memory of Sunday Bisi playing him false to the extent that he has forgotten so soon that an appointee of Governor Adeleke, Dauda Olalekan, popularly known as ‘Emir Ajagungbade’ is currently on trial at different courts of the land over murder, kidnapping and terrorism; and that another daredevil PDP thug, Bode Itaapa, who was recently arrested by the ever-vigilant police, has confessed that some highly placed PDP functionaries sponsored him and other wanted criminals to kill members of the APC?
“Sunday Bisi cannot pretend not to know that Bode Itaapa who has been singing like a Canary bird in the police detention has volunteered information on how he alongside other thugs was equipped by the PDP gladiators with fake Army/Police uniforms, five Hilux vehicles and substantial amount of money to facilitate their dastardly act against the opposition members.
“Has Sunday Bisi forgotten so soon the series of threats by some of the leaders of the PDP in Ikire, Ikirun, Iwo, Osogbo, Ilesa, etc, against the APC members and our supporters before the violence-soaked and pungently rigged elections in the state?
“We are not unaware of the despicable role Sunday Bisi and other criminally-minded chieftains in the government of Osun are playing to free Bode Itaapa and other deviants facing murder, kidnapping and terrorism charges. But at the appointed time, the long hand of the law shall catch up with them and they will be forced to give full account of criminality perpetrated against our members.
“The context of the ill-thought-out statement of the confused state PDP chairman about the conjectured insecurity in the state would be useful for the police and the DSS who should wait no further to invite Sunday Bisi and help their statutory obligation on the issue at stake”, Lawal stated.
