Representative Bamidele Salam has promised to deploy several initiatives and open up more areas of collaborations as well as lend support to Mr. Samson Ajao, a Read-A-Thon player from Osun state who concluded a 215 hour continuous reading.

Mr. Ajao, a former Student Union President of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree embarked on the longest marathon reading exercise and completed 215 hours of reading aloud on Wednesday at 11:40AM. He is awaiting official confirmation by the Guinness Book of Records team.

Speaking on a felicitation visit, at Adolak Hotel in Osogbo, Osun state on Wednesday, 15th May, 2024, Rep. Salam said by the singular act of embarking on the visionary journey, Mr. Ajao has not only set the pace for others to follow but has also permanently placed the state on the world map.

Rep. Salam who was accompanied on the visit to the player by his friend and former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dele Gboluga Ikengboju, as well as large cache of his staff stated that such heroic acts deserves to be appreciated.

He used the occasion to call on other indigenes of Osun state to go into such productive ventures pointing out that, it is one of the ways they can bring honour not only to themselves but the entire state in particular and the nation at large.

“We will see more areas where we can work together to see that this does not become a thing that goes off. We have to keep the flame on. There is quite a lot to do.

“In doing these things too, apart from the impact that you are making, you are also setting yourself as a role model for others that will come behind”, Rep. Salam stated.

Rep. Salam also appreciated the team behind the success story noting that they ran a well coordinated race that ensured maximum visibility both on the conventional and social media platforms, while the show lasted.

He recalled how the students of Oasis Academy Osogbo who accompanied him on an earlier visit felt excited about the outing.

Ajao commenced the reading on Monday, 6th May 2024 to beat the current Guinness World Record holder, Rybai Isako.

Meanwhile, widespread jubilation erupted in Osogbo when, in the company of supporters, friends, organisers, and Iree Student Union, the champion, Ajao’s entourage toured the Olaiya, Ogo-Oluwa, Odi-olowo, and Okefia axis of the town to project his great feat to Osun residents.
