As Osun State gradually approaches another pivotal moment in its democratic journey, I, Taiwo Ayantunji, a committed son of Osun, find it necessary, and indeed, an obligation to lend my voice, my support, and my structure to the gubernatorial aspiration of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, fondly known as AMBO, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

In these challenging times, Osun State needs a tested, trusted, and forward-thinking leader, one who understands the needs of our people, the complexities of governance, and the importance of economic transformation driven by competence, vision, and integrity. AMBO embodies all of these qualities and more.

Having served meritoriously as Commissioner for Finance in Osun State, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji distinguished himself as a prudent manager of resources, a strategic thinker, and a champion of developmental governance. His stewardship was marked by transparency, fiscal discipline, and a passion for sustainable development. Under his leadership, Osun’s financial architecture witnessed reforms that prioritized accountability and positioned the state for growth, even in the face of national economic turbulence.

In 2023, when President Bola Tinubu’s administration needed a proven reformer to revive the ailing National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), the choice was clear — Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. Appointed as Managing Director, he wasted no time delivering impact. Within months, NIWA witnessed unprecedented transformation: 15 new operational boats were commissioned, a modern administrative complex and a dedicated staff clinic were completed, and for the first time in history, a comprehensive Waterways Transportation Code was introduced, bringing structure, safety, and standards to Nigeria’s long-neglected inland transport system. River Marshals were deployed, and strategic public-private partnerships began to take root.

Beyond infrastructure, AMBO placed people at the center of reform. He enhanced staff welfare, introduced childcare support, ensured consistent training opportunities both at home and abroad, and sustained the payment of 13-month salaries and other entitlements. Most remarkably, under his leadership, waterway accidents and fatalities declined by 30% in 2024. In just over a year, NIWA was no longer a forgotten government agency. It had become a national case study in visionary, efficient, and people-driven leadership.

Beyond his administrative experience, AMBO’s grassroots connection, humility, and accessibility make him a relatable leader, one who listens, understands, and acts in the best interest of the people. He is a bridge between the political elite and the ordinary citizen, and he offers a unifying agenda that can consolidate the gains of the past while laying a solid foundation for the future.

As someone who aspires to serve our people at the federal legislative level, I believe that alignment between the executive and legislative arms is crucial for meaningful development. That alignment is best achieved when visionary leaders who share common values and goals are given the opportunity to serve at every level. Supporting AMBO is not just a political decision; it is a patriotic one. It is a call to action for all progressives, all patriots, and all true sons and daughters of Osun who believe in a better tomorrow.

I, therefore, call on all political stakeholders, youth groups, community leaders, market women, artisans, and professionals across Osun State to rally behind this worthy aspiration. Let us unite in purpose and in hope. Let us support a man who has shown capacity and compassion. Let us give Osun the leadership it truly deserves.

The journey to 2026 has begun and with AMBO, Hope is Here.
