Osun 2026: Omisore Declares Ambition To Run, Says APC Will Defeat PDP

A former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has announced his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election in Osun State under the platform of the APC.

Omisore who made the declaration at the APC secretariat, Ogo Oluwa area, Osogbo, on Tuesday made it known that APC has all it takes to defeat Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Osun governorship election by 2026.

Omisore said his decision followed deep reflection expressing readiness to bring his wealth of experience in governance and public administration to reposition Osun for economic growth and sustainable development.

Omisore, who served both as a senator and a key national officer of the APC, assured the party members of inclusive leadership that would unite the party ahead of the 2026 election, calling on citizens to join hands with him in rebuilding Osun and restoring hope to it people.

He said, “My beloved people of Osun State, after deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC)” he stated.

Omisore explained that he is ready to fix all the lapses in Osun and make sure all the dreams of Osun people are fufilled. “I will fix the broken, restore our dreams.”he said.

He further stated that experience counts when it comes to ruling Osun State.
“when there’s conflict within the state, the leaders should come out to sort the conflict as someone that understands the doos of the state, I am one of the people that understands Osun State and can restore the growth of this state” he noted.

Omisore further explained l that there is need to give out employment opportunities and shake off poverty in terms of education and agriculture.

“The problem of shackles of poverty in terms of education, agriculture, social welfare and also what we will do is to provide work for unemployed” he noted.

Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Atakunmosa East/Atakunmosa West/Ijesa constituency of Osun State in the 8th National Assembly, said, “The people here today are members of the APC from all the wards across the state. These are the people who asked Omisore to come out and vie for the ticket of the party. We are sure that with their support, Omisore will emerge as the party’s candidate.
