The leadership and members of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State Chapter, have applauded the Supreme Court of Nigeria for its judgment delivered on Friday, December 5, 2025, ending the prolonged legal battle over the administration of local governments in the state.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Hon. Abiodun Idowu, Osun ALGON described the judgment as a welcome development and a testament to the fact that “the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man.”

Idowu called the verdict a victory for democracy and freedom from the setbacks he said the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke had imposed through malfeasance and visionless policies.

He praised the resilience and dedication of ALGON members for their unflinching support and solidarity over time.

“This is a victory for democracy, good governance, and the common man. We commend the judiciary for this sound judgment that has ended the protracted litigations over our councils in Osun,” he said.

“This legal feat strengthens our resolve to deliver socio-economic and infrastructural development to our councils, reversing the deprivations imposed under Governor Adeleke and bringing the desired change to the grassroots.”
