Renewed Hope Ambassador Accuses Opposition of Mischief over comment on Sen. Omisore

The Renewed Hope Ambassador Coordinator in Osun State, Hon. Sunday Akere, has dismissed reports alleging that he downplayed the relevance of party leader, Senator Iyiola Omisore ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

Hon. Akere described such claims as “mischief” and deliberate distortion of facts by opposition elements.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists, Akere said his attention was drawn to what he called a misleading report by opposition figures, claiming he suggested that Omisore could leave the party without affecting the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 gubernatorial poll.

According to him, “My attention have been called to the misleading report of the opposition party alleging that I said that our leader Otunba Iyiola Omisore can leave the party and that the party will win the forthcoming governorship election irrespective of whether he supports the candidate of the party or not.

“I have taken time to listen to the almost one hour interview and was shocked about the mischief, distortion of facts, and brazen falsehood of the opposition elements.

“For the benefits of all, I have attached the aspects where questions touching on our leader Otunba Iyiola Omisore was asked in the course of the interview and my response. At no time did I denigrate our leader or talk down on him.

“What I said in the interview was that our elders are talking to him in an attempt to iron any grey area and that I am very sure he will be at the forefront of our campaign before August.

‘I didn’t at any point or say anything denigrating about our leader, and I spoke glowingly about his readiness in leading us to victory come August 15th.

“Additionally, I said assuming Otunba Iyiola Omisore was the choice of our party as our flagbearer, all other aspirants would rally round him to succeed.

“I want to tell the sinking opposition elements in Osun that think they can cause division in our party that they have failed flatly from the onset. Otunba Iyiola Omisore is a political timber of repute that will never fall victim to the pettiness of the opposition elements. The guys in the torn umbrella think they can sway our leader to their side but should be told point blank that they have failed from the onset. Our pragmatic progressive leader can clearly see through their mischief and I say it pointedly that Oga Omisore has nothing to do with the rudderless bunch,” he said.
