Address Insecurity Now, Oyo APC Tells FG, States

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has called on governments at all levels to address the growing rate of insecurity in the country.

APC made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday, by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Wasiu Sadare.

He urged Governor Seyi Makinde to collaborate with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to arrest the spate of insecurity in the state.

APC urged the federal, state and local governments to find lasting solutions to the problems, saying, “We use this medium to appeal to the relevant authorities at the federal, state and local government levels to take a critical look at the security architecture of Oyo state with a view to tightening all the loose ends and ensure maximum protection of lives and properties of the citizens regardless of their background, economic or social-political status.

“No citizen deserves to live in perpetual fear and anxiety, as is the situation with the residents of Oyo State at the moment, and it is on this premise that we call on Governor Makinde to come down from his high horse and seek help where necessary so that the situation does not degenerate further. As it stands, nobody is safe anywhere in the state, and it has never been this bad.”

In a related development, the gubernatorial candidate of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has condemned the abduction of school children and teachers in Oyo State, noting that the incident has again reinforced the urgent need for a stronger security architecture in the state.

He used the opportunity to appeal to residents to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies with credible information capable of assisting ongoing rescue operations.
