Thousands member of All Progressives Congress, APC in Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole local government of Osun state on weekend defected to the ruling People’s Democratic Party.

The decampees who were received by the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate and senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Senator Lere Oyewumi, PhD, and the state PDP chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, were said to be prominent members of APC in Ikire.

While receiving them, Sen. Oyewumi reassured all the decampees that the party would carry them along and would do all the necessary things to make them comfortable, just as it does for other card-carrying members of the PDP in the state.

Senator Oyewumi stated that, the rate of people are trooping in from the APC to the PDP is increasing daily, saying, it’s an indication that the opposition party is growing weaker day by day.

Osun PDP Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi while speaking described many of the decampees as leaders and solid members of the APC.

The Osun PDP chairman assured them that the party would provide equal opportunities and privileges for both old and new members, adding that the party’s doors were still open for others to join. While calling on existing PDP members to welcome the decampees with open arms, Hon. Bisi urged all members of the party to remain united in order to continue to move the wheel of progress of the state forward.

Receiving the decampees on behalf of the PDP, Hon. Sunday Bisi thanked them for choosing the PDP while urging them to mobilize their supporters into the PDP for future successes. He also presented each of the leaders of the decampees with symbolic PDP flags to mark their official reception into the party.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Alhaji Sule Maito a.k.a. Ajerin Ababa, former AD Irewole chairman; the wife of the former APC senatorial leader, Mrs. Ishola Oyewumi; Chief Kayode Alabi Aresa of Ikire land; Tijani Ololade p.k.a. Alusekere; Oluode of Ikire land, Rasheed Akande; Faruk Olaniyan; Otunba Adesina Rauf; and a host of other APC grassroots leaders attributed their decision to join the PDP to the good leadership style and excellent performance of Governor Asiwaju Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and the Distinguished Senator Lere Oyewumi, adding that the achievements of the Governor and the Senator are monumental. While assuring the party chairman and the leadership of the PDP of their maximum support and loyalty, Otunba Adesina Rauf added that many other APC members, in large numbers, would soon join the PDP.
