Osun 2026: I Am President Tinubu’s Only Anointed Candidate – Oyebamiji

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the August 15, 2026 election in Osun State, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has declared that he remains the only candidate endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the forthcoming poll.

Oyebamiji made the assertion during the inauguration of 7,830 polling unit canvassers across Ifedayo, Ila and Boluwaduro federal constituency areas, where he dismissed claims that President Tinubu had thrown his weight behind the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Addressing party supporters, the APC flagbearer described reports of Tinubu’s alleged endorsement of Adeleke as false and part of a calculated propaganda campaign by the ruling party.

“I remain the anointed and endorsed candidate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State,” Oyebamiji declared.

“The claim that the President has endorsed the incumbent governor is false and should be disregarded. Those spreading such rumours are only trying to mislead the people of Osun State.”

The APC candidate, who attended the event alongside his running mate, Engr. Benjamin Kayode Adereti, assured residents that his administration would be guided by fairness, justice, accountability, transparency and equitable distribution of resources.

The event also featured the reception of several defectors into the APC, including notable politicians Hon. Ganiyu Ajiboye and Hon. Sulaiman Oladoye Salawu, who pledged their support for the party’s gubernatorial campaign.

Speaking on the significance of the canvassers’ inauguration, Oyebamiji described the initiative as a major step towards strengthening the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.

“I am very glad to partake in the inauguration of polling unit canvassers aimed at enhancing the mobilisation strategy and voting strength of our campaign across the polling units in the 332 political wards and 30 local government areas, including Ife-East Area Office, Modakeke,” he said.

According to him, the exercise marks another milestone in the party’s efforts to reconnect with voters and build momentum ahead of the election.

“This is another milestone in the history of our party to reawaken the consciousness of our people, especially the electorate at the polling units. I want to believe that our canvassers are resolute in mobilising voters in their various polling units. With this, victory is assured as we are determined to wrest power from the incumbent government,” Oyebamiji added.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Osun APC Governorship Election Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, charged the newly inaugurated canvassers to remain committed to the party’s victory project, describing the initiative as a strategic tool for securing votes across the state.

Oke expressed confidence that the canvassers would play a decisive role in delivering electoral success for the APC in their respective polling units.

Also speaking, the National Commissioner of the Federal Civil Service Commission representing Osun and Oyo States, Dr. Festus Oyebade Olowogboyega, and former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, urged residents to support Oyebamiji’s governorship bid.

The duo criticised the administration of Governor Adeleke, alleging that the affairs of the state were being run like a family enterprise. They assured residents that an APC-led government under Oyebamiji would pursue inclusive, participatory and people-oriented governance.

The ceremony attracted several APC leaders and stakeholders, including the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Protocol, Alhaji Issah Niniola; Osun ALGON Chairman, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun; former Commissioner for Commerce, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun; former Director-General of the Bureau of Social Services, Hon. Richard Tinubu; APC House of Representatives candidate for Ila Federal Constituency, Dr. Adebisi Obawale, among other party chieftains.
